This specimen was lot 6482 in Künker sale 354 (Osnabrück, Germany, September 2021), where it sold for €3,000 (about US$4,175 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"REICHSGOLDMÜNZEN, HESSEN, Ludwig IV. 1877-1892. 10 Mark 1890. Vorzüglich aus polierter Platte. (Germany, grand duchy of Hesse, Louis IV, 1877-92, ten mark of 1890, extremely fine on a polished planchet.)"
The Darmstadt mint closed in 1882 and Hessian issues were coined at Berlin thereafter. This is a rare one year type.
