Bavaria 1871 kreuzer

from the Stack's Bowers September 2023 Collector's Choice sale, lot 74439

This specimen was lot 74439 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, September 2023), where it sold for $80. The catalog description^[1] noted, "GERMANY. Bavaria. Kreuzer, 1871. Ludwig II. NGC MS-67. This Gem example offers ample brilliant luster, and some slightly mottled golden toning on its diminutive surfaces. Very attractive. None graded higher at NGC." This type was struck 1865-71 and is common in all grades. One thaler was 120 kreuzer. Unification in 1871 ended the series.
