This specimen was lot 1265 in Sincona sale 18 (Zürich, May 2014), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted,
"Doppelgulden 1852. München Gutes vorzüglich. (kingdom of Bavaria, double gulden of 1852, Munich mint, good extremely fine.)"
Double gulden were struck along with gulden and half gulden in parallel with the thaler series. Two thaler = 3½ gulden. This type was struck 1848-56 and is common. It is the last of its denomination.
Recorded mintage: 1,355,500 (most common date).
Specification: 21.21 g, 0.900 fine silver, this specimen 21.18 g.
