Sincona sale 11, lot 773

This specimen was lot 773 in Sincona sale 11 (Zürich, May 2013), where it sold for 130 CHF (about US$161 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"DEUTSCHLAND Bayern, Königreich Maximilian II. 1848-1864. Doppelgulden 1849, München. Vorzüglich-FDC. (Germany, kingdom of Bavaria, Maximilian II, 1848-64, double gulden of 1849, Munich mint. Extremely fine to uncirculated.)"

Double gulden were struck 1845-56 along with gulden and half gulden in parallel with the thaler series. Two thaler = 3½ gulden.

Recorded mintage: 741,106.

Specification: 21.21 g, 0.900 fine silver, this specimen 21.15 g.
