Sincona sale 9, lot 3698

This specimen was lot 3698 in Sincona sale 9 (Zürich, October 2012), where it sold for 1800 CHF (about US$2,277 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"DEUTSCHLAND Bayern, Königreich Ludwig I. 1825-1848. Konventionstaler 1831. "Gerecht und beharrlich". Fast FDC. (Kingdom of Bavaria, Louis I, 1825-48, convention thaler of 1831, on the opening of the legislature, choice uncirculated.)"

This type, struck 1831 only, was likely saved as a souvenir. The fineness was lowered from .868 to .833 in 1827.
