This specimen was lot 23983 in Heritage sale 3024 (Chicago, April 2013), where it sold for $2,350. The catalog description[1] noted, "Ludwig I Kronentaler 1832, MS65 PCGS. Splendid argent-gray toning over near mark-free surfaces with full, satiny luster. Very scarce in this pristine condition." This type was issued 1830-37 and was called a kronenthaler; the subsequent type (KM 852) was reduced to 18.52 grams.
