Batthyani 1764 thaler Dav-1182
This specimen was lot 1098 in Jean Elsen sale 120 (Brussels, March 2014), where it sold for €300 (about US$493 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
" SAINT EMPIRE, BATTHYANI, Carl Joseph (1764-1772), AR Taler, 1764, Droit: B. cuirassé à droite. Revers: Armoiries couronnées. Très Beau. (Austria, prince Carl Joseph Batthyani, 1764-72, silver thaler of 1764. Obverse: armored bust to right; reverse: crowned arms. Very fine.)"
This thaler was issued 1764 from the Vienna mint and is scarce. It was accompanied by a single ducat (Fr-552), five ducats (Fr-551) and ten ducats (Fr-550).
