Basel 1757-H 1/2 thaler KM-160
This specimen was lot 5059 in Sincona Auction 102 (Zürich, October 2025), where it sold for 1,700 CHF (about US$2,562 including buyers' fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"SCHWEIZ Basel, Stadt und Kanton, Halbtaler 1757, Basel. Nach links blickender Basilisk mit kleinem ovalem Wappen. Kerbrand. Selten. Vorzüglich-FDC. Leicht justiert. (Switzerland, canton of Basel, half thaler of 1757, Basel mint. Obverse: basilisk left supporting small oval arms. Leafed edge. Rare, About Uncirculated, Minor adjustment marks.)"
Another half thaler of 1757 exists with the basilisk supporting the city arms in an ornate cartouche (KM 159). This one is the scarcer of the two.
