Basel (1790) 2 goldgulden Fr-30
This specimen was lot 3083 in Sincona sale 91 (Zürich, May 2024), where it sold for 14,000 CHF (about US$18,500 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"SCHWEIZ Basel, Stadt und Kanton, Doppelter Goldgulden o. J. (um 1790), Basel. Reich verziertes, ovales Baslerwappen. Rv. Stange mit Freiheitshut. Kettenrand. Sehr selten. Gutes vorzüglich. (Switzerland, canton of Basel, undated double goldgulden, circa 1790, Basel mint. Obverse: oval city arms in ornate cartouche; reverse: baton with peasant hat. Very rare, Good extremely fine.)"
The standard given below is from the SCWC but it seems the normal standard for a double goldgulden (6.5 g, 0.917 fine gold) applies. An extremely rare coin in any case.
