Sincona sale 95, lot 4059

This specimen was lot 4059 in Sincona sale 95 (Zürich, October 2024), where it sold for 14,000 CHF (about US$19,404 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"SCHWEIZ Basel, Stadt und Kanton, Doppelter Goldgulden o. J. (um 1720), Basel. Ovales Baslerwappen in reich verzierter Kartusche. Rv. Reichsapfel in verziertem Sechspass. Schräg gerippter Rand schwach sichtbar. Sehr selten. Gutes vorzüglich. Justiert. (Switzerland, canton of Basel, Very rare, About Uncirculated, Adjustment marks.)"

This rare type accompanied a single goldgulden (KM 155).
