This specimen was lot 22272 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Chicago, August 2019), where it sold for $408. The catalog description[1] noted, "BAHAMAS. 100 Dollars, 1985. NGC PROOF-70 Ultra Cameo. Struck to commemorate Columbus' discovery of America. A wonderful example at the top of the grading scale. Brilliant with hard mirror fields and frosted cameo devices." This module was used to strike various commemoratives 1981-92. Columbus's discovery is the main historical event to have occurred in the Bahamas, which is why he is honored on KM 111 (shown here), KM 112, KM 116, KM 119, KM 121, KM 125, KM 126, KM 130, KM 131, KM 135, KM 151, KM 175 in gold and KM 107, KM 110, KM 120, KM 123, KM 124, KM 129, KM 132, KM 133, KM 134, KM 139, KM 153, KM 196, KM 197 in silver.
