Sincona sale 4, lot 4282

This specimen was lot 4282 in Sincona sale 4 (Zürich, October 2011) where it sold for 3,400 CHF (about US$4,523 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"DEUTSCHLAND Baden-Durlach, Markgrafschaft, ab 1806 Grossherzogtum Karl Leopold Friedrich, 1830-1852. Rheingolddukat 1832. Vorzüglich-FDC. (Grand Duchy of Baden, Charles Leopold, 1830-52, Rhine gold ducat of 1832, extremely fine to uncirculated)."

This issue was the first ducat minted in Baden since 1807. Despite being minted 1832-36, it is rare, as are the succeeding types issued until 1854.

Recorded mintage: 6,631.

Specification: 3.66 g, .938 fine gold, .110 troy oz AGW, this specimen 3,68 g.
