This specimen was lot 1084 in Ponterio sale 173 (New York, January 2013), where it sold for $599. The catalog description[1] noted, "AZORES. 300 Reis, 1797. NGC MS-61. Maria I (1786-99)." The Azores, then as now a dependency of Portugal, generally had to make do with copper coins. In 1794-98, a series of 75, 150 and 300 réis were minted for the islands.

Specification: 7.5 g, 0.917 fine silver, 30 mm diameter.
