Austria 1937 100 schilling
This specimen was lot 1702 in Sincona sale 90 (Zürich, May 2024), where it sold for 2,000 CHF (about US$2,643 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"RDR / ÖSTERREICH, I. Republik, 1918-1938. 100 Schilling 1937, Wien. Madonna von Mariazell. Sehr selten. Nur 2'936 Exemplare geprägt. Vorzüglich. Kleine Kratzer. (Austria, first republic, 1918-38, one hundred schilling of 1937, Vienna mint, Mariazell type. Very rare. Only 2,936 pieces struck, Extremely fine, Small scratches.)"
This type was struck in limited numbers 1935-38 just prior to the anschluss with Nazi Germany. It is accompanied by a silver five schilling (KM 2853).
