Sincona sale 77, lot 2924

This specimen was lot 2924 in Sincona sale 77 (Zürich, May 2022), where it sold for 130 CHF (about US$158 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"HOLY ROMAN EMPIRE - AUSTRIA. Franz II. (I.), 1792-1835. Taler 1825 C, Prag. Vorzüglich. Gereinigt und leicht justiert. (empire of Austria, Francis I, 1792-1835, thaler of 1825, Prague mint. Extremely fine, Some cleaning and some adjustment marks.)"

This type was struck 1824-30 at Vienna ("A"), Kremnitz ("B"), Prague ("C", shown here), Günzburg ("G") and Karlsburg ("E") but is not rare. Thalers were struck to this weight standard until 1852.

Recorded mintage: unknown but a common date.

Specification: 28.06 g, 0.833 fine silver, this specimen 28.09 g.
