Austria 1814-A thaler Dav-6
This specimen was lot 4914 in Künker sale 441 (Osnabrück, March 2026), where it sold for €320 (about US$440 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"KAISERREICH ÖSTERREICH, Franz I., 1804-1835. Konv.-Taler 1814 A, Wien. Feine Patina, min. justiert, vorzüglich +. Aus der Sammlung Kommerzialrat Dr. Herbert Wenzel, Wien. Erworben 1959 von Tellmann, Wien. (empire of Austria, Francis I, 1804-35, convention thaler of 1814, Vienna mint. Fine patina, light adjustment marks, extremely fine or better.)"
This type was struck 1811-15 during the Napoleonic Wars and most dates, including this one, are common. Thalers were struck to this standard until 1856, then replaced by a smaller coin struck 1857-68.
