This specimen was lot 2026 in SINCONA Auction 97 (Zürich, May 2025), where it sold for 5,250 CHF (about US$7,615 including buyers' fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"RDR / ÖSTERREICH, Franz II. (I.), 1792-1835. 4 Dukaten 1809 A, Wien. Gutes vorzüglich. Feine Kratzer. (empire of Austria, Francis II (I), 1792-1835, quadruple ducat of 1809, Vienna mint. About Uncirculated, Minor hairlines.)"
This type was struck 1807-10 while Austria was coping with heavy defeats at the hands of Napoleon. It was the largest gold coin of the reign.
