Austria 1805-E 20 kreuzer
This specimen was lot 1949 in Künker Auction 425 (Osnabrück, July 2025), where it sold for €150 (about US$213 including buyers' fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"HABSBURGISCHE ERBLANDE-ÖSTERREICH · KAISERREICH ÖSTERREICH, Franz I., 1804-1835. 20 Kreuzer 1805 E, Karlsburg. Vorzüglich-Stempelglanz. Exemplar der Sammlung Dipl.-Ing. Hermann Wohnlich. (Holy Roman Empire, Francis I, 1804-35, twenty kreuzer of 1805, Karlsburg mint. Extremely fine to uncirculated.)"
This type was struck 1804-06 at six mints (Vienna (A), Kremnitz (B), Prague (C), Salzburg (D), Karlsburg (E) and Gunzburg (G)) and is common. The year 1806 is when the Holy Roman Empire was finally abolished, Francis having adopted the title Emperor of Austria in 1804. This coin shows both titles and was worth one-sixth of a convention thaler.
