This specimen was lot 1246 in Stephen Album sale 27 (Santa Rosa, CA, January 2017), where it sold for $176.25. The catalog description[1] noted, "AUSTRIA: Joseph II, 1765-1790, AE kreuzer, 1790-S. PCGS graded MS64 RD." This type is listed for 1780-90 from eight mints, including Smollnitz, shown here. It is noted as common in all grades. The SCWC lists this type as billon, which strains credulity for the lowest of all Austrian denominations; the specimen here is clearly copper.
Recorded mintage: unknown.
Specification: copper.
Catalog reference: KM-2056.
