Sincona sale 43, lot 3700

This specimen was lot 3700 in Sincona sale 43 (Zürich, October 2017), where it sold for 350 CHF (about US$418 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"HOLY ROMAN EMPIRE - AUSTRIA, Joseph II. 1765-1790 Dukat 1784 A. Wien. Sehr schön-vorzüglich. Kleine Kratzer. (Holy Roman Empire, Joseph II, 1765-90, ducat of 1784, Vienna mint. Very fine-extremely fine, Small scratches.)"

This type is listed for several mints (A, B, E, F, G) from 1780-90 and is common. There is another ducat, Fr-435, with a uniformed bust of Joseph II, struck 1781-85 at Prague (C) and Hall (F) only.

Recorded mintage: unknown but a common date.

Specification: 3.49 g, 0.986 fine gold, .109 troy oz AGW, this specimen 3.48 g.
