Sincona sale 90, lot 1600

The first specimen was lot 1836 in Sincona sale 66 (Zürich, October 2020), where it sold for 950 CHF (about US$1,251 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"HEILIGES ROMISCH REICH, Maria Theresia, 1740-1780. 1/2 Dukat 1748, Wien. Vorzüglich-FDC. Kleine Kratzer. (Austria, Maria Theresia, 1740-80, half ducat of 1748, Vienna mint. Extremely fine-uncirculated, Small scratches.)"

The second specimen was lot 1600 in Sincona sale 90 (Zürich, May 2024), where it sold for 750 CHF (about US$1,007 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[2] noted,

"RDR / ÖSTERREICH, Maria Theresia, 1740-1780. 1/2 Dukat 1748, Wien. Selten. Sehr schön. Henkel- und Tragespuren. (Holy Roman Empire, Maria Theresia, 1740-80, half ducat of 1748, Vienna mint. Rare, Very fine, Traces of mounting and wear.)"

This type was struck in 1748 and 1750 at the Vienna mint.
