Künker sale 335, lot 4767

This specimen was lot 4767 in Künker sale 335 (Osnabrück, Germany, March 2020), where it sold for €300 (about US$393 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"RÖMISCH-DEUTSCHES REICH. Karl VI. 1711-1740. Einseitiger Pfennig 1726, Wien. R Vorzüglich-Stempelglanz. (Holy Roman Empire, Charles VI, 1711-40, uniface pfennig of 1726, Vienna mint. Scarce, extremely fine to uncirculated.)"

This type was struck at the Vienna mint 1713-14, 1723, 1726, 1738-40. We don't know if this coin was intentionally struck uniface. The SCWC lists numerous types for this denomination (KM 1111, 1417, 1418, 1419, 1481, 1482, 1513, 1514, 1531, 1622) but doesn't give photographs for any of them. Quarter kreuzer were also struck. Four pfennig = one kreuzer and sixty kreuzer = one gulden.
