Künker sale 406, lot 4545

This specimen was lot 4545 in Künker sale 406 (Osnabrück, March 2024), where it sold for €950 (about US$1,247 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"RÖMISCH-DEUTSCHES REICH, Leopold I. 1657-1705. Reichstaler 1676 (Jahreszahl im Stempel aus 1674 geändert), IAN, Graz. In US-Plastikholder der NGC mit der Bewertung AU 55 (6643582-004). Feine Patina, min. Schrötlingsfehler, vorzüglich. (Austria, Leopold I, 1657-1705, thaler of 1676, Graz mint, 1676/4 overdate. Graded NGC AU-55, fine patina, slight planchet flaws, extremely fine.)"

This type was struck at Graz 1671-78, 1682, 1684, 1687-88 and is common. Overdates are common from this mint. The accompanying double thaler (Dav-A3232) appears from time to time.
