This specimen was lot 73049 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, February 2022), where it sold for $528. The catalog description[1] noted, "AUSTRIA. 1/2 Taler, ND (1711). Hall Mint. Joseph I. PCGS MS-62. Graced with an impressive strike quality and exceptional details, the handsome piece is lightly lustrous underneath the charmingly toned and multicolored surfaces." Altho the auctioneers attributed this coin to Joseph I, who died in 1711, the coin clearly gives the emperor's title as "CAROLUS·VI·D:G:ROM:IMP". The Hall mint did not issue another half thaler until 1724 and this issue is fairly scarce.
Recorded mintage: 46,000.
Specification: silver.
