Goldberg sale 116, lot 1001
Australia G116-1001r.jpg

This specimen was lot 1001 in Goldberg sale 116 (Los Angeles, June 2020), where it sold for $870. The catalog description[1] noted, "Australia. 50 Dollars, 2017. Weight 0.5000 ounce. Elizabeth II. Reverse: Rooster. Choice Brilliant Uncirculated." This Chinese lunar calendar NCLT is shown in Numista with a considerably different design. We have borrowed the specification from the similar $50 issued for the Year of the Horse (2014). Australia also issued $1, $2, $5, $8, $10, $15, $25, $30, $100, $200, $300, $1000, $3000 and $30,000 for the Year of the Horse and we presume the Year of the Rooster received the same attention. The $30,000 weighed 321 oz in gold.

Recorded mintage: 12,283.

Specification: 15.55 g, 0.999 fine gold, 30.6 mm diameter.

Catalog reference: KM 3419.
