The specimen shown is from a type struck for Australia in 1990. This coin inaugurated the kookaburra series of silver bullion coins, which are sold each year with a different reverse. Australia also mints and markets similar series featuring the kangaroo and the Chinese zodiac (year of the rat, etc.).
Recorded mintage: 300,000.
Specification: 31.1 g, 0.999 fine silver, designed by Raphael Maklouf and Stuart Devlin.
