Stack's Bowers May 2024 Collector's Choice sale, lot 33030

This specimen was lot 33030 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, May 2024), where it sold for $65. The catalog description[1] noted, "AUSTRALIA. Silver 10 Dollars Piefort, 1990. Elizabeth II. NGC PROOF-69 Ultra Cameo. An engaging double thick example with the subject Cockatoo wings spread wide." This is the piefort version of KM 136. Other ten dollar issues for 1990 include KM 137. The sulfur-crested cockatoo (Cacatua galerita) is found throughout eastern Australia, Tasmania and New Guinea.

Recorded mintage: 49,801 plus an unknown number of pieforts.
