Australia 1922 half penny

from Steve Album sale 27, lot 1897

This specimen was lot 1897 in Stephen Album sale 27 (Santa Rosa, CA, January 2017), where it did not sell. The catalog description^[1] noted, "AUSTRALIA: George V, 1910-1936, ½ penny, 1922. Gorgeous example, struck at Sydney, NGC graded MS64 RB." This half penny was struck 1911-36 at London (1911-14), Heaton (1912-15), Sydney (1919-22), Calcutta (1916-18) and Melbourne (1920-36). Most of the dates are common in worn condition but all are scarce choice.

Recorded mintage: 6,924,000 plus most of the 1,113,000 struck in 1923.

Specification: 5.6 g, bronze, 25.5 mm diameter.
