Australia 1921 3 pence
This specimen was lot 71063 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Santa Ana, CA, October 2019), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "AUSTRALIA. 3 Pence, 1921. Melbourne Mint. PCGS VF-30 Gold Shield. A fairly well circulated example of this minor, featuring some light toning." This type was struck at the London mint 1911-15 and the Melbourne mint 1916-36 tho not all dates bear mintmarks. This date is much more available with the "M" mintmark. Australia maintained the sterling silver standard until 1945, years after Great Britain had debased her coins to 0.500 fine.
Recorded mintage: 7,378,000 (including 1921-M) plus a few proofs.
