This specimen was lot 1692 in Sincona sale 86 (Zürich, October 2023), where it sold for 575 CHF (about US$774 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"Victoria, 1837-1901. Half Sovereign 1886 M, Melbourne. Fifth young head, shield reverse. Very rare. NGC AU53. Tied with four others for finest certified by NGC."
This is a better date of a scarce type issued 1871-87. The SCWC notes it as twice the price of the sovereign of 1871-87. It was also minted at Sydney.
Recorded mintage: 38,000 plus proofs, a better date.
