Argentina 1828-RA P 4 soles
The first specimen was lot 71005 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, November 2022), where it sold for $1,560. The catalog description[1] noted, "ARGENTINA. 4 Soles, 1828-RA P. La Rioja Mint. PCGS AU-55. Medal Alignment. The finest certified at PCGS, this lovely survivor from this challenging series shows generous well-struck original detail. The surfaces are attractively lustrous and elegantly toned with mottled silver and hazel hues. A pleasing coin with impressive originality, sure to be a welcome addition to the next collection it enters. From the Pat Johnson Collection." This type was struck 1828 and 1832. The medal alignment variety (obverse and reverse facing the same direction) obtains a modest premium.
