Argentina 1826-RA 2 soles

from Stack's Bowers June 2022 Collector's Choice sale, lot 70229

This specimen was lot 70229 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, June 2022), where it sold for $432. The catalog description^[1] noted, "ARGENTINA. 2 Soles, 1826-RA. La Rioja Mint. PCGS EF-40. Medal Alignment, No 'P' variety. A charming little piece with a slightly off center strike that just adds to the charm." This type was struck 1824-26 and is common in low grade. This variety without the assayer's initial is scarce.
