This specimen was lot 4103 in Künker sale 406 (Osnabrück, March 2024), where it sold for €3,600 (about US$4,724 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"ANHALT-DESSAU, FÜRSTENTUM, Johann Casimir, 1619-1660. 1/2 Reichstaler 1660, Berlin, auf seinen Tod. Von größter Seltenheit. Prachtexemplar. Herrliche Patina, feiner Prägeglanz, vorzüglich +. (Anhalt-Dessau, John Casimir, 1619-60, half thaler of 1660, Berlin mint, on his death. Extremely rare, cabinet example, superb patina, fine mint luster, choice extremely fine.)"
Joachim Ernst united all the splinters of Anhalt but died in 1586. His seven sons ruled Anhalt jointly until 1603, when the five surviving brothers partitioned it once again. This commemorative is not mentioned in the SCWC, which lists KM 1 (groschen), KM 2 (2/3 thaler) and KM 3 (thaler) for 1660.
