This specimen was lot 2307 in Stephen Album sale 50 (Santa Rosa, CA, September 2024), where it sold for $84. The catalog description[1] noted, "DURRANI: temp. Kohandil Khan, 1st reign, 1830-1839, AR rupee, Ahmadshahi (= Qandahar), AH1253, kalima // mint & date, ornate background both sides, XF." This coin is credited to Ayyub Shah (r. 1819-23, d. 1837) in the SCWC, and was struck AH 1242-1254. Kohandil Khan (d. 1855), ruler of Qandahar, may have been his jailor after his deposition. Kohandil Khan contended the throne of Afghanistan with Barakzai chief Dost Mohammed (d. 1863).
