Stephen Album sale 50, lot 3528

This specimen was lot 3528 in Stephen Album sale 50 (Santa Rosa, CA, September 2024), where it sold for $84. The catalog description[1] noted, "AFGHANISTAN: Abdur Rahman, 1880-1901, AR sanar, [Kabul], ND, star above the toughra // crossed cannons and swords below the mosque, choice VF, R, ex Hakim Hamidi Collection." Milled coinage was introduced to Afghanistan during the reign of Abdur Rahman (1880-1901). This type was struck AH 1315 and undated. It has a star over the mosque whereas KM 824 has the value over the mosque. It had a face value of ten paise, two shahis or one hundred dinars.

Recorded mintage: unknown but scarce.

Specification: 1.55 g, 0.500 fine silver.
