This specimen was lot 1270 in Ponterio sale 173 (New York, January 2013), where it sold for $764. The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMANY. Aachen. 32 Mark, ND (1752-56). NGC AU Details--Surface Hairlines. From the Demarete Collection." The city of Aachen on the border between Germany and the Netherlands, issued no thalers during the eighteenth century. This thirty-two marck, or two-thirds thaler, is the closest. It is scarce.
