This specimen was lot 3167 in Sincona sale 43 (Zurich, October 2017), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted,
"CHINA, Volksrepublik, 50 Yuan 1988. Panda. Polierte Platte. FDC. Originalverschweisst. (People's Republic of China, fifty yuan of 1988, panda series, Choice Proof, In original plastic.)"
The fifty yuan was used for the half ounce gold panda starting in 1983, with a different reverse for each year. The one ounce panda (KM 187) was one hundred yuan.
Recorded mintage: 220,430 + 10,000 proofs.
Specification: 15.55 g, .999 fine gold, Weight 0.4995 ounce.
