Jean Elsen sale 151, lot 1406

This specimen was lot 1406 in Jean Elsen sale 151 (Brussels, June 2022), where it sold for €440 (about US$550 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"ALLEMAGNE, SAXE, Royaume, Friedrich August III (1904-1918), AV 20 Mark, 1913E. Rare Petits coups. Légèrement nettoyé. Très Beau à Superbe. (Germany, kingdom of Saxony, Frederick Augustus III, 1904-18, gold twenty mark of 1913. Rare, minor nicks, Very Fine - Extremely Fine.)"

This is the scarcest of the three dates (1905, 1913, 1914) tho it obtains only a slight premium. Gold ten mark also exist.

Recorded mintage: 121,002.

Specification: 7.97 g, 0.900 fine gold, .229 troy oz AGW.
