This specimen was lot 2938 in Steve Album Auction 53 (Santa Rosa, CA, September 2025), where it sold for $204. The catalog description[1] noted, "HAMBURG: Free Hanseatic City, AR 2 mark, 1908-J, a wonderful lustrous mint state example! PCGS graded MS64, ex Joe Sedillot Collection." Hamburg, on the North Sea, was one of two imperial free cities permitted a continued existence under the Empire of 1871; Bremen was the other. This type is common and was struck 1892-93, 1896-1914. The Hamburg mint is still in operation, striking coins for the Federal Republic of Germany.
