Stack's Bowers 2020 NYINC sale, part of lot 22438

This specimen was lot 22439 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2020), where it sold for $1,140. The catalog description[1] noted, "CHINA. Olympics Gold and Silver Set (6 Pieces), 2008. Gold: Both NGC Certified; Silver: GEM PROOF. Fr-279 (2); KM-1700/1705. Series 1 issues. Includes: (4) silver colorized 10 Yuan and (2) NGC Proof-70 gold 150 Yuan; total gold weight for the two coins is .6488 oz. Sold with the original case and wooden box of issue as well as all six certificates of authenticity." The Beijing Olympics of 2008 was the occasion for the release of a spasm of NCLT's in multiple formats and denominations starting several years before.

Recorded mintage: 160,000.

Specification: 31.11 g, 0.999 fine silver, 40 mm diameter.
