Stack's Bowers 2022 Collector's Choice sale, lot 73437

This specimen was lot 73437 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, February 2022), where it sold for $144. The catalog description[1] noted, "CHINA. 10 Yuan, 2008. Lunar Series, Year of the Rat. NGC PROOF-69 Ultra Cameo. Scalloped-shaped coin. Sharply struck with hard mirrored fields and frosted cameo devices." The regime issued many different silver ten yuan in 2008, including KM 1674, KM 1688, KM 1702, KM 1703, KM 1704, KM 1705, KM 1732, KM 1733, 1734, 1736, 1739, KM 1814, 1825, 1830, 1831, 1832 (shown here), 1833, KM 1843, KM 1844, KM 1845, KM 1846, 1854, 1856, 1858, 1859 and 1865. Most of them were for the Beijing Olympics of that year. This Lunar calendar design was issued in scalloped (shown here), conventional round and rectangular formats.
