Belgium 1833 2 centimes rev Stacks 410-742.jpg

This specimen was lot 742 in Stack's sale (New York, April 2010). The catalog description[1] noted, "BELGIUM. Leopold I, 1831-1865. Copper 2 Centimes, 1833. Crowned monogram. Rv. Lion and Constitution. Struck over Dutch 1 Cent coin, visible undertype. Smooth reddish brown. Uncirculated. From the Eliasberg Collection." This type was struck 1833-65 at the Brussels mint in numerous varieties; despite the enormous mintage, this date is scarce in nice condition.
