Künker sale 336, lot 6002

This specimen was lot 6002 in Künker sale 336 (Osnabrück, Germany, March 2020), where it sold for €800 (about US$1,047 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"BALTIKUM, LITAUEN, Republik. 1 Litas 1997. Vladas Jurgurtis. 7,77 g Feingold. GOLD. R Nur 1.500 Exemplare geprägt. Polierte Platte. (republic of Lithuania, gold one litas of 1997, for Vladas Jurgurtis (1885-1966, founder of the bank of Lithuania). Scarce, only 1,500 pieces struck, proof.)"

This is the gold version of a circulating commemorative struck to honor the 75th anniversary of the Bank of Lithuania.

Recorded mintage: 200,000 for circulation plus 1,500 proofs.

Specification: 6.25 g, copper-nickel, 22.3 mm diameter; proof: 7.78 g, 0.999 fine gold, 0.250 troy oz AGW.
