Stack's Bowers May 2023 Collector's Choice sale, lot 72749

This specimen was lot 72749 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, May 2023), where it sold for $312. The catalog description[1] noted, "LITHUANIA. 5 Litai, 1998-LMK. Vilnius Mint. NGC PROOF-63 Ultra Cameo. This Choice example displays good details and strong contrast between device and field and much beauty." A bimetallic five litai (KM 113) exists, struck for circulation 1998-2013. This NCLT was struck to honor UNICEF. We don't know why this was struck to the module of an obsolete British crown.

Recorded mintage: 3,000.

Specification: 28.28 g, 0.925 fine silver, 38.6 mm diameter.
