This specimen is one of a type struck at the Ottawa Mint for Canada 1979-89. The prior type (KM 77.1) had a slightly larger bust of the queen. In 1990, the dePedery-Hunt bust of the queen was adopted.

Recorded mintage: 143,025,000 plus 157,037 proofs.

Specification: 2.07 g, nickel, 18.03 mm diameter.
