CNG Triton XXVIII, lot 6357

This specimen was lot 6357 in CNG Triton XXVIII (New York, January 2025), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMANY, Sachsen (Duchy & Electorate). Ernst, with Albrecht. 1464-1486. AR Half Schwertgroschen. Zwickau or Schneeberg mint. Dated 1482. Coat-of-arms within trilobe / Coat-of-arms within trilobe. Toned. In NGC encapsulation 4824370-001, graded AU 55. From the Robert Levinson Collection. Ex Horn Collection." This type and numerous other halbe schwertgroschen of the period 1475-82 are listed in the SCWC under Saxe-Wittenberg, an old splinter of the Saxon duchies which was abolished in 1500.
