Jean Elsen sale 162, lot 1825

This specimen was lot 1825 in Jean Elsen sale 162 (Brussels, June 2025), where it sold for €85 (about US$118 including buyer's fees). The catalog description^[1] noted,

"BELGIQUE, Royaume, Léopold Ier (1831-1865), Cu 1 centime, 1856. Petite brisure de coin au revers. (kingdom of Belgium, Leopold I, 1831-65, copper one centime of 1856. Small die break on the reverse, Extremely Fine - Uncirculated.)"

This type was struck 1832-41, 1844-50, 1855-63 in substantial numbers yet many dates, including this one, are scarce. The 1862 is the most common date.
