Sincona sale 83, lot 2621

This specimen was lot 2621 in Sincona sale 83 (Zürich, May 2023), where it sold for 1,950 CHF (about US$2,610 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted, "Sachsen, Herzogtum, ab 1547 Kurfürstentum, Johann Georg I. 1615-1656. 2 Taler 1623, Dresden. Sehr selten. Sehr schön (Very rare, Very fine)." We can't see the difference between Dav-7590A (listed for 1616-19) and Dav-7600 (listed for 1620-38). The SCWC states this date should have mintmaster's initials HR; instead we see a swan mintmark.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: silver, this specimen is 57.85 g.

Catalog reference: Clauß / Kahnt 137, Dav-7600, KM 133.
