The first specimen was lot 846 in Stephen Album sale 30 (Santa Rosa, CA, January 2018), where it sold for $176.25. The catalog description[1] noted, "IRAN: Ahmad Shah, 1909-1925, AV 5000 dinars, AH1343/33, PCGS graded AU." The second specimen was lot 415 in Goldberg sale 136 (Los Angeles, September 2023), where it sold for $348. The catalog description[2] noted, "Iran. 5000 Dinars (½ Toman), AH1343 (1925). Sultan Ahmad Shah, 1909-1925. PCGS graded AU-58." The third specimen was lot 125 in Sincona sale 92 (Zürich, October 2024), where it did not sell. The catalog description[3] noted,

"IRAN Qajar Dynasty, Ahmad Shah, 1327-1344 AH (1909-1925). 1/2 Toman 1343/33 AH (1924/1925), Tehran Mint. Bust type. Saheb al-Zamam. Date reengraved over 1333. Sehr selten, Very rare. NGC AU58. From the Kian Collection Part 1, auction SINCONA 85, Zürich, October 2023, lot 1214. From the Mesrob Abgarian Collection, Glendale, California, in 1989. Finest certified by NGC."

This type is listed for AH 1331-1343 (1912-24) with several dates valued at barely above bullion. This denomination was also minted in silver (KM 1058).

Recorded mintage: unknown but fairly common.

Specification: 1.44 g, 0.900 fine gold, 17 mm diameter.
