Great Britain 1691 1/2 guinea Fr-308
This specimen was lot 161 in Sincona sale 75 (Zürich, May 2022), where it sold for 1,700 CHF (about US$2,064 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"Grossbritannien | Königreich. William III. und Mary, 1689-1694. 1/2 Guinea 1691, London. Second conjoined busts, skinny elephant and castle below. NGC AU Details. Vorderseite bearbeitet. (kingdom of Great Britain, William III and Mary II, 1689-94, half guinea of 1691, London mint, Second conjoined busts, skinny elephant and castle below. Obverse repaired.)"
This type was struck 1690-94. Half guineas of 1691-92 are known with the elephant and castle below the bust (shown here). These obtain a substantial premium.
